A beautiful and authentic late 19th century Grand Tour bracelet composed of hand carved lava stone cameos, each depicting classical profiles inspired by Roman antiquity. Sourced from volcanic stone near Mount Vesuvius, pieces like this were treasured souvenirs brought home by travelers exploring Italy during the height of the Grand Tour.

Each medallion is individually carved, showing subtle variation in tone and detail, from helmeted figures to Roman style profiles. The depth of carving is one of the defining features of lava cameos, allowing for a more sculptural and dimensional effect than shell or glass examples.

The cameos are set in patinated metal bezels and linked with double connectors, retaining its original safety chain. The overall tone and wear are consistent with true 19th century examples, giving the piece that unmistakable aged character collectors look for.
