19th-Century French Hand-Painted Porcelain Bowl – Watteau-Style Lovers Scene & Floral Reserves

Circa 1850–1870 | Likely Sèvres-style or Paris porcelain

This exquisite 19th-century French porcelain bowl captures the opulence and artistry of the Rococo revival, with a romantic Watteau-style fête galante scene on one side and a lush floral reserve on the other. The bowl is painted in vivid enamels on a radiant bleu celeste ground, a hue made famous by Sèvres porcelain during the reign of Louis XV.

On one side, a courtly musician serenades a reclining lady beneath a tree, the scene framed in raised and tooled gilt foliate scrollwork. The reverse blooms with a vivid bouquet of hand-painted roses, daisies, violets, and forget-me-nots—all set within similarly ornate gilded surrounds. Inside the bowl, a delicate floral garland rings the upper rim, adding refinement to every angle.

Finely executed and richly detailed, this piece was likely produced by a high-quality Parisian or Limoges manufacturer in imitation of the grand 18th-century Sèvres tradition. Perfect for display in a vitrine or on a dressing table, it exemplifies the blend of decorative elegance and technical skill that defined 19th-century French porcelain.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with minor wear to gilding consistent with age. No chips or cracks.
