French Napoleon III Marquetry Jardinière Table, c. 1875–1890

A fine 19th-century French Napoleon III bronze-mounted marquetry jardinière or plant stand, crafted circa 1875–1890. The shaped oval top features intricate inlaid veneers of mahogany and walnut, decorated with bold geometric and foliate marquetry, and fitted with cast bronze handles. The lid lifts to reveal an interior lined in damask fabric, intended originally for floral displays.

The body is richly ornamented with gilt-bronze mounts, and the curved ebonized cabriole legs are joined by a conforming marquetry lower shelf. The piece displays the elegance and craftsmanship typical of the late Second Empire period, blending neoclassical influence with refined Parisian taste.

Condition: Overall good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Minor veneer losses and surface scratches are visible (as shown in photos). Interior fabric shows fading and discoloration. Structurally sound and displays beautifully.
