Il Serto di Fiori, ossia Il Mese di Maggio, Don Michele M. Orlando, Naples 1856

A mid 19th century Italian Marian devotional titled Il Serto di Fiori, ossia Il Mese di Maggio (“A Garland of Flowers, or the Month of May”), written by Don Michele M. Orlando and printed in Naples in 1856 by Stamperia e Libreria di Andrea Festa.

This work belongs to the long standing Catholic tradition of dedicating the month of May to the Virgin Mary, offering a structured series of daily prayers and meditations intended to guide personal devotion. Each reflection acts as a symbolic “flower,” forming a spiritual garland in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The book opens with an engraved frontispiece depicting the Virgin, setting the tone for the devotional nature of the text. Its scale and format suggest it was meant for personal use, likely carried or kept close for daily reading.

Bound in a period marbled paper over boards with a gilt decorated spine, retaining its original character and charm.

Italy, 1856.

Condition
Antique condition with visible foxing and toning throughout, consistent with age. Binding solid with expected wear to edges and spine. Internally complete.
