Restored Victorian Oak Tantalus Drinks Cabinet with Crystal Decanters & Working Key

A beautifully restored late-19th-century Victorian oak tantalus drinks cabinet, complete with its full set of four hand-cut crystal decanters and four liqueur glasses. This is a classic English travelling liquor chest — designed to secure fine spirits under lock and key, whether aboard a carriage, in a gentleman’s study, or displayed atop a sideboard.

The cabinet is crafted in quarter-sawn oak with a warm golden tone, brass-mounted hardware, and a mirrored interior that amplifies the sparkle of the cut crystal. The sides swing open to reveal the decanter compartment, while the front lower drawer slides out to provide additional storage. Inside are four matching faceted decanters with original stoppers plus four petite hand-blown cordial glasses.

Key Features

  • Late Victorian, circa 1880–1900
  • Solid quarter-sawn oak with brass mounts
  • Professionally restored (structurally tightened, finish revived)
  • Fully functional lock with original working key
  • Four matching hand-cut crystal decanters
  • Four liqueur glasses in divided compartments
  • Mirrored back for display brilliance
  • Lower drawer for accessories or bottle service

This tantalus is both a functional bar piece and a collectible decorative object — a classic Victorian luxury item brought back to its former glory.
